What kind of escort ship are you planning to make by the way? Leadership should be there of course. Beyond the reasons you mentioned, I just don't think it's appropriate to be hanging out with children I don't know. Before I quit the hobby, I often found myself stranded in the back of some GW store with a 12 year old across the table, and beyond not enjoying a 3 hour span, I felt fairly uncomfortable throughout the game.

I'm not trying to say they're all bad, and good on folks who can do it, but I've paid these dues.

Re: Kids

Yeah, I actually wrote this shortly after 'Ard Boyz; just venting a bit. Not that he was a problem or anything, but the game did have some eye-raising moments and I think it's always kind of questionable how to best deal with kids that age.

Re: Kids

All good points, Joe, but what prompted this? Just venting from that kid last weekend? He's the last person to be calling anyone out on anything, because his "Sanguinary Priests" were pretty much indistinguishable from anything else in his army, and that's just what stands out in my mind from our game.

Re: First Squadron

Those Landspeeder bases are really fun to do, with all that room and plenty of visibility.

Re: First Squadron

Coherent scheme, solid details, beautiful bases, good load outs… what’s not to like here?

Re: Kingbreakers Rhino Lator

Scales up well visually. Effort-wise I'm not so sure, though I'm also very happy with the results. I'll still never forgive you for not, immediately upon seeing my first guys, being all "Joe, no, no. There's a reason everybody just sprays their Marines red, gray, or blue and calls it a day... This tricolor thing is going to be a huge pain in the ass."

It's a very dirty strike cruiser.... The weathering needs a little more work, this is just a wash splotched on. The next guy will get some more dry brushed grime first.

Also, the fleet got primed yesterday, so look for them to pop out any day now!

Re: Artist & Craftsman Supply

I've been missing everything this year. I was dying to go, but had an event scheduled for that day. About a month in advance, the event was cancelled, and I was sorely tempted to throw something together (and thus, build) to do something, but I just couldn't take (or find) the time to do it.To derail further, I don't remember how much you recall about my crazy store idea and everything, but I'm down in Texas, working to make it real. I'm working at Applebee's, getting restauranting experience, in an attempt to con the bank into giving us money (one of the two stumbling points in the business plan last summer was lack of restaurant experience). I just interviewed for a full-on manager position, which while it would push the timeline back another year or so, would all but seal the deal when we re-apply. If I don't get it, we're probably going to try again and reapply for the loan this winter. On topic (a little), my favorite is a store chain down here, Hobby Lobby - it's like a Jo-ann's or Michael's on steroids. Not nearly as in depth as Pearl, or even Blick and them, but you sometimes find weird things. My best acquisition (as yet unused, see lack of time above) was 1' square of Easter grass things. Each square is 6x6 (or 8x8?) of little removable plugs. The plugs have the grass on them (around the edge, really), not the rest of the mat, so you can pop them off and squish/arrange them and have some great looking overgrown grasses, etc. Picked them up at 75-90% off or something ridiculous.Lastly, some whoring:Our solution to the bank's second problem, lack of repayment/business credit/equity, whatever:www.custommetalstuffs.comI know you need some stainless steel Kingbreakers stuff for your walls...

Re: Kingbreakers Rhino Lator

I love seeing your color scheme scale up so well as you keep adding painted stuff to your inventory. Looking real good. The grime along the hull is great too, your marines look like they fight, not like they march around the decks of a strike cruiser.

Re: Artist & Craftsman Supply

Hey Anthony! We missed your Tyranids at 'Ard Boyz this year!

The Blick store is pretty solid, as are the Utrechts, and are were I had been going, but I haven't seen brass tubing or thin plasticard at either. Lots of foamcore, thicker styrene blocks, and other useful stuff, but I'd been specifically looking for tubing recently to make a banner for a Librarian.

Hope you're doing well!

Re: Artist & Craftsman Supply

Have you checked out the one in Center City? Of course, I am drawing a blank on name and location, but it's right there next to Strike Lanes or whatever it is...
Google has it! Blick Art supplies, 1330 Chestnut. They were a decent fall back when Pearl was working its way up to actually closing. Definitely worth checking out.

Re: Random Pic: Predator Loadout

Subscribe me to your newsletter.

Re: Magnetized Predator Tutorial

Lookin' good, Joe.

Re: Random Pic: Predator Loadout

Next project: Put magnets in all the weapons, doors, etc., but use an electromagnet in the hull such that you can tap a switch point on the hull, the polarities reverse, and all its components go flying.

Re: Random Pic: Predator Loadout

That's how it's gonna look on the battlefield too.

Re: Random Pic: ‘Ard Boyz Comes!

Well, what I mean is, not cool publishing classified information the week before the tournament.
The way to play it off is that you're so serious about testing and tuning your list, you didn't want to commit to anything until it was perfect and ready to crush opponents.

Re: Random Pic: ‘Ard Boyz Comes!

Not cool, man. Make the batteries blue and silver, accent eagles and the like with gold, add some red running lights somewhere and you've used all your heraldry colors.
